Experience:  Intermediate

Office Location:  Fresno


Performs work involving the application of all conventional aspects of GIS to a variety of projects.  Determines methods and procedures for GIS portions of projects.  Exercises judgment in the independent evaluation, selection and substantial adaptation or modification of standard GIS techniques, procedures and criteria to meet project requirements.



  • BS Degree (Biology, Geomatics, Geography or Computer Science is preferred).
  • 2-4 year’s experience working with geographic information systems using ESRI ArcGIS
  • Specific technical training and/or course work in GIS (15-30 semester units in geography)


Attributes of a Successful Candidate

  • Strong computer skills, including intermediate or higher level proficiency in use of GIS software and conventional techniques.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to devise, communicate and implement solutions.
  • Ability to convert data in different formats.
  • Attention to detail of map elements and layouts.
  • Consistent conformity to company and project mapping/graphic standards without assistance
  • Intermediate or advanced skills with MS Excel and MS Access for data processing
  • Understanding of relational database concepts and normalization of data records
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work with minimal supervision with strong organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of and interest in geography.
  • Basic math skills, including spatial statistics and analysis.
  • Basic graphic design skills.
  • Conceptual understanding of different coordinate systems and ability to troubleshoot.
